Padma Shri Prof. Dr. S.
Kameswaran is a senior ENT Surgeon of this country, with deep erudition
and vast experience in surgical practice. For over 40 years he has been
teaching generations of medical students. He was the former Director of
the Inst. of Otolaryngology, Madras Medical College and later Director
of the Post Graduate Inst. Of Basic Medical Sciences, University of
Madras.
He qualified
for the degree of M.S. (Master of Surgery) from Madras University, FRCS
from Edinburgh and Glasgow, Ph. D. from Madurai Kamraj University and
was conferred D.Sc. (Honoriscausa) by the Tamil Nadu Medical
University. He has won several distinguished awards namely: Padma Shri
from the President of India, Dr. B.C. Roy award from ICMR and Melvin
Jones Fellowship from Lions IntI. He has delivered several prestigious
orations to mention a few like - Air Marshal Suboroto Memorial Oration
( Aviation School , Bangalore ) Dr. P.V. Cherian Memorial Oration (
Calicut ), Ranbaxy Award Oration (lMA Varanasi ), Invited Lecture at
French Academy of Sciences Belgium . He has published over 80 papers in
National and International Journals and Edited a unique Book on "ENT
disorders in a tropical Environment" which has run into 4 editions.
