Ex Professor and Head of
department of ENT and Medical superintendent LNJP Hospital and Maulana
Azad Medical College, New Delhi. Prof Kakar was born on February 8,
1982. He had his medical education at Patna University before shifting
to New Delhi . He served as Professor of ENT in Maulana Azad Medical
College till 1991. He was awarded FICS in 1966, FACS in 1967 and FAMS
in 1975. He was given Hon. FRCS (Eng) in HJ8B and FRCS (Edin) in 1991.
He pioneered drum transplant surgery in Asia in 1971 and established
the Ear Bank at LNJP Hospital in 1975. He was instrumental in
initiating the ear drum and ear bone grafting act in 1971 which was
passed by the government of Delhi in 1976 and by the Parliament in
1982. He was awarded Senior Commonwealth Fellowship in 1978. B.C. Roy
award in 1982 and Padma Shri in 1987. He had been the Hon Surgeon to
the President of India. He was President of AOI in 1984 and President
of Delhi Medical Association in 1985-86. He had also been the member of
Medical Council of India between 1980-85 and member Dental Council
ofIndia between 1990-91. He has published 86 article.s in National and
International Journals and has participated in several National and
International conferences.
